A large metallic object resembling a bus has been found buried in sand and bushes along the Tanahun-side bank of the Trishuli River, slightly downstream from the Simaltal area on the Narayangadh–Muglin road section.
According to the Chitwan District Police Office, information was received after the object was spotted from the Chitwan side of the river. Police teams from both Chitwan and Tanahun are heading toward the site. However, due to the difficult terrain and inaccessibility of the location, police have not yet been able to reach the spot to confirm whether the object is indeed a bus.
Local residents and observers from across the river suspect that the metallic object could be one of the two buses that were swept into the Trishuli River by a landslide at Simaltal on Ashar 28, 2081 (July 2024). Those buses had not been fully recovered.
The tragic accident occurred near Simaltal in Bharatpur Metropolitan City–29, where two buses carrying a total of 65 passengers—one traveling from Birgunj to Kathmandu and the other from Kathmandu to Gaur—were pushed into the Trishuli River by a landslide. Eleven deaths were confirmed and three people were injured, while 51 passengers went missing. Although some bodies were later recovered from different locations, the buses themselves were believed to have remained lost in the deep river.
