Rajendra Bikram Baniya has been elected as the new president of the Nepal Truck Transport Entrepreneurs’ Federation during its 7th Annual General Meeting and 8th General Convention.
Baniya defeated Om Krishna Karki in the election held on Sunday, securing a three-year term as president. According to the results, Baniya received 112 votes, while Karki garnered 77 votes.
Other key election results include:
- Senior Vice President: Vishnu Prasad Nyaupane elected unopposed
- Vice Presidents: Kisan Gurung (164 votes) and Vidyapati Upadhyay Ghimire (108 votes)
- General Secretary: Badri Prasad Chaulagain elected unopposed
- Deputy General Secretary: Meghraj Sigdel (97 votes) defeating Arjun Bahadur Sapkota (89 votes)
- Secretary: Umesh Chandra Majgain and Gangabahadur Khadka tied at 95 votes each; agreed to share the term equally
- Treasurer: Rumakhar Gautam (132 votes) defeating Tikaram Gautam (60 votes)
- Deputy Treasurer: Suman Sapkota (107 votes)
The convention also selected a 16-member central committee, including provincial coordinators from all seven provinces:
- Koshi: Binod Khadka
- Madhesh: Rambahadur Duwadi
- Bagmati: Suryabahadur Shrestha
- Gandaki: Kedarnath Ghimire
- Lumbini: Yam Prasad Pandey
- Karnali: Chetan Thani
- Sudurpaschim: Mohansingh Saut
Nearly 500 truck transport entrepreneurs from across the country participated in the convention.
