The share market declined marginally on Monday, with the NEPSE index falling by 5.54 points to settle at 2,635 points.
Total turnover for the day reached Rs 6.47 billion. Share prices of 75 companies increased, while 178 companies saw a decline and 7 companies remained unchanged.
As Sunday was a public holiday, Monday marked the first trading day of the week. On the previous trading day last week, the NEPSE had gained 4.59 points with a turnover of Rs 4.90 billion. Compared to that, trading activity increased on Monday.
Investors traded a total of 12.3 million shares, resulting in transactions worth more than Rs 6.5 billion. While 75 stocks gained, 178 declined and seven were traded at the same price as last Thursday.
Two companies hit the positive circuit on Monday. Shares of SY Panel and Shrinagar Agritech Industries surged by 10 percent, earning investors Rs 125.80 and Rs 101.30 per share respectively.
Shares of companies such as Rasuwagadhi Hydropower and Bungal Hydro also rose by up to 8.53 percent, while some companies recorded declines of up to 4.25 percent.
In terms of turnover, SY Panel led the market with transactions worth Rs 422.2 million. It was followed by Radhi Bidyut with Rs 310 million, Manjushree Finance with Rs 270 million, Shrinagar Agritech with Rs 250 million, and Shivam Cement with Rs 240 million.
Sector-wise, development banks, hotels and tourism, manufacturing, and mutual funds posted gains, while the remaining sub-indices ended the day in the red.
