Nepal is observing the 27th National Earthquake Safety Day today. The day has been marked every year since 2055 BS in remembrance of the devastating earthquake that struck on Magh 2, 1990 BS.
The main objective of observing this day is to raise public awareness about earthquakes and to strengthen preparedness and safety measures.
Nepal has suffered significant loss of life and property due to earthquakes in the past, including the powerful earthquake of April 25, 2015 (Baisakh 12, 2072 BS), highlighting the continued importance of disaster awareness and preparedness.
