
In Kanchanrup Municipality-5, Pipra, Saptari, a husband and wife died after being electrocuted on Saturday night.
The deceased have been identified as 50-year-old Badri Sardar and his 45-year-old wife, Bimala Devi Sardar. The couple was returning home around 8 PM after working in their field when the accident occurred.
According to DSP Madhav Prasad Kafle of the Kanchanrup Police Station, the couple came into contact with a GI wire that local resident Mahendra Sada had stretched to protect the paddy crop from elephants, leading to immediate electrocution.
Following proper legal procedures, the couple’s bodies were taken to Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital in Rajbiraj for postmortem. Further investigation into the incident is ongoing.
