The central committee meeting of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) is being held today to finalize candidates under the direct election system. The meeting will take place at 2 pm at the party’s central office in Banasthali.
It is reported that the meeting will decide the names of direct candidates for all 165 constituencies for the House of Representatives election scheduled for Falgun 21.
The Election Commission has set Magh 6 as the deadline for submitting nominations under the direct system. As candidates are required to be physically present in their respective constituencies for nomination registration, political parties are under pressure to finalize candidates today.
While the CPN-UML has finalized candidates in most constituencies except a few, disputes continue within the Nepali Congress. The internal dispute in the Congress has intensified after the faction emerging from the special general convention received the party’s official recognition certificate.
