Senior leader of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, Balendra Shah (Balen), has said that the people of Madhes no longer need to go to Kathmandu to demand their rights. Speaking at a program organized in Janakpur on Monday, Shah said people should now go to Kathmandu only for sightseeing and religious visits, not for seeking rights.
“Go to Kathmandu to travel. Visit Pashupatinath and Swayambhu. There is no need to go there to demand rights anymore. Those rights will now be available here in this province itself,” he said.
Shah also claimed that a son of Madhes would become the Prime Minister and urged everyone to vote for the bell symbol, saying it would bring the right time and the right government. “A son of Madhes will now become Prime Minister. Everyone must vote for the bell. The right time and the right government will come,” he said.
Referring to sugarcane farmers from Madhes who had staged protests at Maitighar in Kathmandu, Shah said he was unable to do much at that time because he was only the mayor. He added that he is now committed to addressing farmers’ demands through central politics. “When sugarcane farmers from Madhes came to Maitighar, I couldn’t do much because I was only a mayor. But now I am with you because I have entered central politics,” he said.
