Former Nepali Congress President and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba will not be a candidate in the upcoming House of Representatives election.
Deuba, who has been elected continuously from Dadeldhura in every election since 1991, will not contest this time, according to his secretariat.
Direct candidate nomination for the House of Representatives election scheduled for Falgun 21 is taking place nationwide today.
Deuba made the decision not to file his candidacy at the last moment. Earlier, statements had surfaced indicating his desire to contest the election one final time.
Deuba has served as Prime Minister of Nepal five times.
