
Police have arrested notorious gang leader Raju Gorkhali as part of a recent crackdown on organized crime.
A resident of Sindhupalchok, Gorkhali was taken into custody by the Kathmandu District Police Office on banking offense charges. He is also affiliated with the Nepali Congress and has been arrested numerous times in the past. In the 2022 parliamentary elections, his name was recommended as a candidate from Sindhupalchok Constituency-2 by the Nepali Congress.
Earlier, on August 1, police had arrested gangster Chakre Milan along with 46 others, of which 19 were charged. The Kathmandu District Court later released them on bail of Rs 30,000 each on August 13, while the Bhaktapur District Court ordered Milan’s release on an additional bail of Rs 110,000 on August 14 in connection with an assault case.
