The Nepali Congress has denied an election ticket to former party General Secretary Prakash Man Singh in the upcoming House of Representatives election.
Singh, who has been winning elections from Kathmandu continuously since 2064 BS, has not been nominated this time. A former Deputy Prime Minister, Singh was last elected from Kathmandu Constituency No. 1. Party President Gagan Kumar Thapa had suggested that Singh contest from Constituency No. 7.
Instead, the Nepali Congress has nominated Prabal Thapa as its candidate from Kathmandu-1. Thapa is considered close to party president Gagan Thapa.
