Police have arrested a man who had been absconding after killing his wife in Jhindada, Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality–7 of Myagdi district.
According to police, 32-year-old Ramesh Kami, also known as Prem, was arrested for murdering his 20-year-old wife, Punmaya Bik, on the night of Magh 3. Kami is originally from Pokhara Metropolitan City–23, Thulakhet, and had been living in a rented room at Srijana Chowk, Pokhara.
Police Inspector Govinda Subedi said that Ramesh has been kept in custody for investigation after Myagdi District Court granted five days’ remand under the homicide provisions of the National Penal Code, 2074.
Ramesh was arrested on the evening of Magh 4 from Birauta, Pokhara Metropolitan City–17, a day after the murder.
During interrogation, he confessed to stabbing Punmaya multiple times with a knife, killing her after following her from Pokhara to her maternal home in Jhindada via Dhorpatan, Baglung.
Police have recovered a combat jacket with stains resembling blood worn during the incident, a Redmi mobile phone, and SIM cards of Ncell and Nepal Telecom from his possession.
