CPN-UML Chair and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has urged voters not to waste their votes on candidates who lack credibility or a proven track record. Speaking at a program in Jhapa, Oli said that just as banks do not print currency without collateral or guarantees, people should also avoid voting for candidates who have no “security” or reliability.
Recalling the 2064 BS election, Oli reminded Jhapa residents that voting for unfamiliar candidates had set the district back in terms of development. He questioned what Balen Shah had done specifically for Jhapa and said that instead of outsiders or “tourist candidates,” voters should elect local candidates who understand the area.
Oli also claimed that landless residents in Jhapa fear they might be displaced, adding that such concerns have grown due to statements and actions by certain figures. He maintained that Balen Shah merely being a candidate does not affect him politically and reiterated that local leadership is essential for Jhapa’s development.
