The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers has made public the decisions taken at the Cabinet meeting held on Thursday. Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal announced the decisions on Friday.
The Cabinet decided to accept a grant assistance of two million US dollars from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank for preparatory work on the Siddhartha Highway improvement project along the Butwal–Pokhara section. It also approved the removal of the upper limit on foreign investment in designated industrial and business sectors through the automatic route.
The meeting approved the participation of Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development Dr. Madan Prasad Pariyar and ministry secretary Dr. Rajendra Prasad Mishra in the First South Asian Agroforestry and Free Earth Side Forest Conference to be held in New Delhi, India, from Magh 22 to 24.
The Cabinet also decided to extend by 20 days the tenure of the investigation commission formed to ascertain the actual physical and human losses caused during the protests held on Bhadau 23 and 24, 2082.
Likewise, the meeting endorsed the foreign visit of the Minister for Foreign Affairs, who represented the Government of Nepal at the funeral ceremony of former Bangladeshi Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia in Bangladesh from Poush 15 to 17.
Among other decisions, the Cabinet approved providing five ropanis of government-owned land in Bhaktapur district for the construction of an office building for the Provincial Public Health Laboratory, and one ropani of government-owned land in Kavrepalanchok district to the Drinking Water and Sanitation Division Office No. 3, Sindhupalchok.
The Cabinet also approved the publication of a notice in the Nepal Gazette regarding the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol, which was passed by the House of Representatives on Falgun 27, 2081. Additionally, the Home Minister was formally designated as the spokesperson of the Government of Nepal.
