Sunita Dangol Urges Learning from History to Move Forward on the Right Path
Acting Deputy Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Sunita Dangol, has said that learning lessons from history and moving forward on the right path is a key necessity of the present time.
Speaking while offering floral tributes at the statue of martyr Shukraraj Shastri in Teku on the occasion of Martyrs’ Week, which began on Saturday, Dangol said that Martyrs’ Week should not be taken merely as a formal event but as a time for self-reflection and a sense of responsibility.
She stressed that history should not be confined only to books or academic curricula, but should be reflected upon and applied in practical life. According to her, history delivers the message that one must always work for the people, raise a voice against injustice, and remain consistently committed to public service.
“Martyrs’ Week should not be limited to ceremonial observance alone; it should also be a time for us to feel responsible,” she said. “History is not meant to stay within the pages of books, but to be learned from and used in our lives to move forward in the right direction.”
Dangol also highlighted the significant role played by martyr Shukraraj Shastri in spreading social awareness through literature, stating that his contribution to the establishment of democracy remains unforgettable.
