A corruption case has been filed against four individuals, including former Ward Chair Jalaluddin Mansur of Ward No. 3, Kalaiya Sub-Metropolitan City, Bara district.
According to Surya Nath Naupane, spokesperson of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), the accused are charged with preparing false documents during the purchase and sale of land plots No. 288 and 290 of former Bhatauda VDC Ward No. 2. Although the land was classified as residential land with road access, it was falsely recorded as non-residential, thereby understating the transaction value and misappropriating government revenue.
The CIAA alleges that former Ward Chair Mansur and former Ward Secretary Raghupasad Godhi, in collusion with the land buyer and seller, acted with malicious intent to benefit themselves and cause financial loss to the Government of Nepal and public institutions. The total amount embezzled is NPR 694,651.
Similarly, corruption cases have been filed against land seller Rauf Miya Mansur for NPR 377,000 and land buyer Hiralal Prasad for NPR 317,651, as stated in the commission’s press release.
Seeking imprisonment and fines under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2002 (2059 BS), the CIAA filed the charge sheet at the Special Court, Kathmandu, on Sunday.
