National Anti–Money Laundering Day is being observed today with the organization of various programs. According to the Department of Money Laundering Investigation, the national day is being marked in the presence of Finance Minister Rameshwar Khanal.
Director General of the department, Gajendra Thakur, said the day is observed in commemoration of the date when the Money Laundering Prevention Act, 2064 (2008) was promulgated.
The Council of Ministers had decided on Poush 16, 2081, to observe Magh 14 every year as National Anti–Money Laundering Day. Based on that decision, the department stated that the day is being observed again this year.
