Koshi Province Chief Minister Pays Tribute to Martyrs on Martyrs’ Day
Koshi Province Chief Minister Hikmat Kumar Karki has paid high respect and heartfelt tribute to all brave martyrs who sacrificed their lives at various times for the attainment of civil liberties, democracy, and the republic.
Issuing a statement today, Chief Minister Karki expressed respect and honor toward senior leaders who played a leading role in Nepal’s movements for change and contributed to institutionalizing those achievements. She stated that the bravery shown by the four martyrs in overthrowing the autocratic Rana regime forms a foundational pillar of Nepal’s history.
The statement notes that every anti-autocracy movement from 2007 BS to the present has been inspired by the same spirit. Whether it was the 1990 People’s Movement against the Panchayat system or the historic People’s Movement of 2006/07, the inspiration of the martyrs remained alive in all struggles.
Chief Minister Karki urged citizens to respond to the current attacks on the system not with provocation but with restraint, patience, honesty, and wisdom, standing firmly committed to protecting the democratic republic and the constitution. She emphasized that public opinions must be expressed in favor of the constitution and the system, correcting weaknesses while standing on constitutional foundations and moving forward to realize the path and dreams shown by the martyrs.
She called on everyone to honor the martyrs by uniting with firm resolve and determination to build a prosperous and self-reliant nation.
