The seventh edition of the Jhapa Gold Cup Football Tournament will be held from Magh 24 to Falgun 4 at the Domlal Rajbanshi Stadium in Bhadrapur. The tournament will feature 10 teams from Nepal, India, Bhutan, and Malaysia.
Speaking at a press conference held today, Jhapa Gold Cup Chairman Kedar Giri said that preparations for the tournament are in the final stage. He informed that most of the work, including ground maintenance and construction of temporary parapets, has been completed, with only stage decoration remaining.
According to Chairman Giri, teams competing in the tournament include Jhapa-11 Football Club, Church Boys United, Tribhuvan Army FC, APF FC, Nepal Police FC, Machhindra FC, Laligurans Association Nepal Pokhara, Royal Thimphu FC of Bhutan, Singling Sporting Club of India, and N Penang FC of Malaysia.
The tournament winner will receive a cash prize of Rs 1.5 million, while the runner-up will get Rs 750,000. Giri added that the best player and official of the final match will be awarded Rs 35,000 each, while the ‘Player of the Match’ for each day will receive Rs 25,000 in cash.
Agro Thai Foods’ product ‘Xtreme Energy Drinks’ has been named the main sponsor of this edition. An agreement was signed between the organizers and the main sponsor during the press conference. The organizing committee has estimated that the total cost of hosting the tournament will be around Rs 15 million.
