Today, February 4, marks World Cancer Day, observed globally to raise awareness about cancer, emphasize prevention, early detection, and timely treatment. Every year, various awareness programs are organized worldwide on this day to educate people about the disease.
World Cancer Day was first celebrated following the “Charter of Paris Against Cancer” passed at the World Summit Against Cancer for the New Millennium held in Paris, France, in 2000.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), approximately 10 million people die from cancer each year. Key causes include smoking, tobacco use, and unhealthy lifestyles.
