Prime Minister Sushila Karki has initiated efforts to resolve ongoing problems with health insurance payments. To discuss the matter with relevant stakeholders, she convened a meeting this afternoon at the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers’ Office, according to an official statement.
Recently, hospitals across various parts of the country had threatened to suspend services due to delayed payments from the Health Insurance Board. Service providers reported that prolonged non-payment had made it difficult to continue healthcare services.
The Health Insurance Board has stated that more than NPR 10 billion in payments is still pending for health institutions listed under the national health insurance program.
