The Sudurpashchim Provincial Government has decided to provide financial assistance to the families of those who lost their lives in the bus accident in Baitadi. A meeting of the provincial cabinet held on Friday resolved to provide NPR 100,000 each as humanitarian support to the family of every deceased person.
The meeting also decided that the provincial government will bear the treatment expenses of those injured in the accident. The cost of medicines and medical treatment for the injured admitted to government hospitals will be covered by the province.
Additionally, the provincial government stated that if any injured person’s condition becomes critical and requires further treatment in Kathmandu, arrangements for helicopter transportation will be made.
The bus, which was heading towards Bajhang carrying wedding guests from Purchaudi in Baitadi, met with an accident on Thursday night at Badgaun in Purchaudi Municipality–7. The accident claimed the lives of 13 people and left 34 others injured.
Among the injured, 25 are receiving treatment at Dadeldhura Hospital, five at Nisarga Hospital in Dhangadhi, and four at Deulek Health Post. The provincial government has expressed deep sorrow over the incident and pledged that no effort will be spared in providing relief and medical support to the affected families.
