A reported joint missile strike by the United States and Israel on a school in Minab, southern Iran, has killed at least 108 people, according to local officials. The total death toll from airstrikes across Iran has reportedly reached 201, with 747 people injured.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian described the incident as a “barbaric act.” However, neither Israel nor the United States has confirmed carrying out a strike on the school. The school is located approximately 600 meters from a camp belonging to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which had been targeted in the reported attacks.
The BBC said it had verified several video clips showing smoke rising from a building and crowds of people gathering and shouting in the aftermath of the explosion. However, the broadcaster noted that it had not been able to independently confirm the number of casualties. International media outlets often face difficulties gathering verified information in Iran due to visa restrictions and limited access.
Following the incident, Iranian social media users expressed anger and frustration. An Iranian living abroad who opposes military intervention in Iran wrote that “the first victims of this war are 40 girls in Minab who were hit by the missile strike. Is this the war you support?”
At the same time, deep mistrust toward the Iranian government has led some people to question official accounts, with a number of critics placing blame directly on the ruling authorities.
