The Nepal Police headquarters has informed that 176 individuals involved in anti-election activities have been arrested from across the country.
Central spokesperson and Deputy Inspector General Avi Narayan Kafle said those detained were engaged in anti-election actions, spreading misinformation and disinformation, setting vehicles on fire, and other disruptive activities.
He stated that although two vehicles were set ablaze in Kathmandu at night, no other serious election-related incidents have been reported. He added that security arrangements have been made robust and effective.
Spokesperson Kafle informed that police personnel have already been deployed to all polling stations nationwide. “All-party and all-stakeholder meetings have been held at district polling centers to strengthen security arrangements. Mobile and reserve teams are working with high morale in coordination with other security agencies to reinforce election security. Special monitoring is underway to identify and control those misusing technology and social media or violating the silence period,” he said.
Inspector General of Police Dhan Bahadur Karki also monitored the Central Election Cell and directed subordinate units to maintain strict vigilance and enhance border security during the silence period, he added.
Police further stated that five fake suspicious objects placed in different parts of the country to create panic were discovered and safely neutralized by the Nepali Army
