A measles outbreak has been reported in Bobang, Serawang, and Lakuribot villages of wards 7, 8, and 9 of Dhorpatan Municipality in Baglung District.
According to Municipal Education Officer Pushpak Dahal, around 50 people have shown symptoms similar to Measles, and 22 patients are currently receiving treatment at Burtibang Hospital. As a precautionary measure, schools in the area have been closed until the 27th.
The municipality decided to close both community and institutional schools after the infection began to spread. Health workers collected five swab samples for testing, which confirmed measles infection. In addition, about 50 children have shown symptoms similar to measles.
To prevent further spread of the infection, the decision to close schools was made by the Local Rapid Response Committee of Dhorpatan Municipality on Falgun 23, 2082 (Nepali calendar).
According to the decision, all community and institutional schools within the municipality will remain closed for three days from Falgun 25 to 27, 2082. The municipality has also urged parents and students to remain alert and take necessary health precautions to prevent infection.
