Leaders and cadres of Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal (JSP Nepal) from various districts and Madhesh Province continued their protest for the third consecutive day in Janakpurdham, burning an effigy of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. On Wednesday, they blocked roads at Bhanu Chowk and raised slogans demanding the fall of the Oli government, the withdrawal of false cases, and action against Prabhu Sah, who is alleged to be the main planner of the Gaur massacre.
Ramashish Yadav, chief whip of JSP Nepal’s Madhesh Province parliamentary party and a member of the Madhesh Provincial Assembly, accused the government of conspiring against party chairman Upendra Yadav. He claimed that after JSP Nepal refused to support the controversial Land Ordinance in parliament, the government attempted to frame Upendra Yadav by linking him to the Gaur massacre. Yadav also alleged that the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML colluded in this conspiracy.
He warned that if the government does not withdraw the case against Upendra Yadav, the party would escalate its movement. Earlier, the Supreme Court bench of Justices Til Prasad Shrestha and Nityananda Pandey issued an interim order to advance the investigation into the Gaur massacre. On Chaitra 7, 2063 BS (March 20, 2007), 28 Maoist activists were killed during a clash between Madhesi Jana Adhikar Forum and Maoist cadres in Gaur, Rautahat.
