Senior leader of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and Member of the House of Representatives Balen Shah has made public the details of his election expenses.
Shah stated that he spent a total of Rs 1,417,289 (14 lakh 17 thousand 289) during the election campaign. He also said that the expense report has already been officially submitted to the Election Commission of Nepal.
In the election, Shah won from Jhapa–5, defeating former Prime Minister and chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist), K. P. Sharma Oli, by a margin of nearly 50,000 votes.
Following his victory, there is growing speculation that Shah could become the next Prime Minister of Nepal.
