According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Nepal is currently under the partial influence of westerly winds, a high-pressure system in the upper atmosphere, and a low-pressure area near the eastern region.
As a result, the sky in Koshi Province is generally cloudy this morning (Wednesday), while the rest of the country is experiencing partly cloudy conditions.
According to the forecast issued at 8 AM by the Meteorological Forecasting Division, skies will remain generally cloudy in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, as well as in other hilly regions during the afternoon. The remaining areas of the country will see partly cloudy conditions.
Light fog is also expected in some places of the Terai region and valleys. There is a possibility of light rain or snowfall with thunder and lightning at a few places in the hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi Province as well as in the hilly and mountainous regions of Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces. Similar conditions are also likely in the hilly and mountainous areas of Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces, and at one or two places in the Terai regions of Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini.
Meteorologist Saroj Pudasaini said there is also a possibility of scattered light rain in the Kathmandu Valley during the afternoon.
He said the weather in Kathmandu Valley is expected to remain generally cloudy to partly cloudy throughout the day, meaning clouds may dominate the sky but sunshine may appear occasionally.
Similarly, tonight the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy in the hilly regions of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces, while the rest of the country will see partly cloudy conditions. There is also a chance of light rain or snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning at a few places in Koshi and Madhesh provinces and at one or two places in Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.
