Residents of Bancharedanda have once again blocked the disposal of garbage from the Kathmandu Valley. Locals prevented waste disposal, citing that previous agreements with the Kathmandu Metropolitan City and the Ministry of Urban Development have not been implemented.
With a firm stance that no garbage will be allowed to be dumped until prior agreements are honored, they turned back vehicles carrying waste from Kathmandu.
Earlier, on Kartik 16, the obstruction had been lifted after Urban Development Minister Kulman Ghising had assured the implementation of previous agreements.
The affected residents from Kakani Rural Municipality wards 1, 2, and 3 in Nuwakot, and Dhunibeshi Municipality wards 1, 3, and 4 in Dhading, have been sitting on the road at the district borders, preventing garbage trucks from reaching their destinations.
Local representatives and political leaders from Kakani, Belkotgadhi, and Dhunibeshi have also supported the residents in their protest.
