A jeep accident in Darchula has left ten people injured, four of them seriously, according to Chhatrabahadur Rawat, Information Officer and Inspector at Darchula District Police Office.
The incident occurred on Thursday at around 8:30 AM when a red-numbered jeep (G.3 Ch. 3351) traveling from Hopari to Hoparigad in Naudada Rural Municipality met with an accident.
Among the seriously injured were 25-year-old pregnant Parvati Tamta (Naudada-3), 26-year-old Mohan Thagunna (Ward-4), 17-year-old Apsara Mehta (Marma-5), and 35-year-old Umesh Thagunna (Naudada-4).
Others who sustained minor injuries include 40-year-old Rambha Mehta, 34-year-old Umesh Singh Thagunna, 12-year-old Ram Mehta, Shyam Mehta, 14-year-old Kanchi Mehta, 72-year-old Gamba Mehta, and 19-year-old Lakshmi Karki (Apihimal-4).
Police suspect that the accident occurred due to brake failure on a slippery road. The jeep, driven by Lakendra Singh Thagunna, was carrying 11 passengers in total. The four seriously injured individuals have been taken to Gokuleshwar Hospital for treatment. Further investigation into the incident is ongoing.
