
Ten people were injured in a jeep accident in Darchula on Thursday morning, with four of them in critical condition, according to Chhatra Bahadur Rawat, Information Officer at the Darchula District Police Office.
The accident occurred at 8:30 AM when a red jeep with registration number ग. ३ च. ३३५१, traveling from Hopari to Hoparigad in Naudagad Rural Municipality, skidded off the road. Police believe the accident happened because the brakes failed on the slippery road.
Among the critically injured are 25-year-old pregnant Parvati Tamta from Naudagad–3, 26-year-old Mohan Thagunna from Ward No. 4, 17-year-old Apsara Mehta from Marma–5, and 35-year-old Umesh Thagunna from Naudagad–4. They were taken to Gokuleshwor Hospital for treatment.
Others with minor injuries include 40-year-old Rambha Mehta, 34-year-old Umesh Singh Thagunna, 12-year-old Ram Mehta, Shyam Mehta, 14-year-old Kanchi Mehta, 72-year-old Gamba Mehta from Naudagad–4, and 19-year-old Laxmi Karki from Apihimal–4.
The jeep had 11 passengers in total, and the Darchula District Police Office has stated that further investigation into the accident is ongoing.
