A “Grand Pashupat Area Pilgrimage-2082” is set to be organized with the aim of seeking forgiveness and performing penance before Lord Pashupatinath and the Bagmati River.
The pilgrimage is being undertaken on the spiritual resolve of Swami Ramananda Giri, the head of Mahesh Sannyas Ashram and chairman of Mahesh Sanskrit Gurukulam. The initiative aims to raise awareness among Sanatan followers and the Nepali public about the spiritual significance of Lord Pashupatinath, the sanctity of the Pashupat area, and the special importance of the holy Bagmati River.
The pilgrimage is also intended to express repentance for the pollution of the Bagmati River and to promote awareness for its preservation.
According to the organizers, the event will begin on Chaitra 15 with an inauguration ceremony at Pashupati Shankaracharya Math, followed by a special worship of Lord Pashupatinath and a grand aarti of the Bagmati River. The actual foot pilgrimage will start from the Pashupati area on Chaitra 16, beginning with the darshan of Adi-Ling Kusheshwar Mahadev.
After visiting Kusheshwar, the pilgrims will travel to Dolakha for the darshan of Bhimsen and then continue the journey on foot to visit sacred Siddha Lingas located in Sindhuli, Nuwakot, Dhading, Makwanpur, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Kavrepalanchok, Janakpur and other areas, organizers said.
