The Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) has finalized the names of nine lawmakers to be elected under the proportional representation system. The final list was agreed upon by party coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal and co-coordinator Madhav Kumar Nepal.
According to the party, the recommended candidates include Pramesh Hamal from the Khas Arya cluster; Parshuram Tamang and Bhim Kumar Budha from the Indigenous Nationalities group; Prem Bayak from the persons with disabilities cluster; Jog Kumar Barbaria Yadav from the Madhesi group; Parbati BK and Ganesh Bishwakarma from the Dalit cluster; and Nirasha Chaudhary Dagoura from the Tharu group.
In the proportional representation vote held on Falgun 21, a total of 11,280,617 votes were cast, of which 10,835,025 votes were valid.
Based on the valid votes received, the Rastriya Swatantra Party secured 57 seats, the Nepali Congress 20 seats, the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist) 16 seats, the Communist Party of Nepal 9 seats, while the Shram Sanskriti Party and the Rastriya Prajatantra Party secured four seats each.
Political parties are required to submit the list of elected candidates based on cluster representation to the Election Commission Nepal by 5:00 PM today. If the submitted names meet the required cluster representation, the commission will publish the final list of elected candidates the same day; otherwise, parties will be given time to correct the list.
Under the proportional representation system, 110 lawmakers are elected to the House of Representatives.
