The Supreme Court of Nepal is scheduled to hear a writ petition today challenging the decision to withdraw money laundering and organized crime cases against Rabi Lamichhane, chairperson of the Rastriya Swatantra Party.
The hearing had originally been scheduled for Sunday but was postponed after the court could not take up the case. It was then kept under “hearda-heardai” (continuing hearing) and moved to Monday.
A joint bench of Justices Saranga Subedi and Sunil Kumar Pokharel will conduct the hearing today.
Earlier, a joint bench of Justices Sapana Pradhan Malla and Shrikanta Paudel had ordered the petition to be presented for regular hearing on Sunday.
Attorney General Sabita Bhandari Baral had previously decided to withdraw the money laundering and organized crime charges filed against Lamichhane during the previous government’s tenure.
The decision was challenged at the Supreme Court through separate writ petitions filed by advocate Yuvraj Paudel, senior advocate Dinesh Tripathi, and advocate Abhas Regmi.
