The Election Commission Nepal will distribute certificates to candidates elected under the proportional representation (PR) system on Chaitra 5.
According to Krishna Bahadur Raut, the Election Officer for the proportional representation system, the certificates will be distributed at 11:30 AM at the commission’s premises in Kathmandu.
The commission has already announced the elected candidates after publishing the list of nominees submitted by political parties.
The commission has also requested the newly elected members of the House of Representatives Nepal to submit their original citizenship certificate or national identity card along with two passport-size photographs by Tuesday.
In the House of Representatives election held on Falgun 21, six political parties obtained national party status. Under the proportional representation system:
Rastriya Swatantra Party won 57 seats
Nepali Congress secured 20 seats
Communist Party of Nepal (UML) obtained 16 seats
Nepal Communist Party won 9 seats
Shram Sanskriti Party secured 4 seats
Rastriya Prajatantra Party won 4 seats
In the 275-member House of Representatives, 165 members are elected through the direct system and 110 through the proportional representation system.
The commission stated that once the certificates are distributed to the PR candidates, the election process will be formally completed.
