A two-day orientation program for newly elected lawmakers of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has begun at the Royal Tulip Hotel in Gwarko, Lalitpur.
The opening session will be inaugurated by Deputy Chair Dol Prasad Aryal, while Party Chair Ravi Lamichhane will deliver the closing remarks.
Party Vice Chair Swarnim Wagle, General Secretary Kabindra Burlakoti, and other trainers will provide sessions to the new lawmakers on the party structure, parliamentary system, and their responsibilities.
On the first day, lawmakers will be introduced in groups, engage in interactions, and receive training on teamwork skills. Former Secretary Suresh Adhikari will brief them on the structure and functioning of Parliament.
Wagle will conduct sessions on the party’s election manifesto and lawmakers’ responsibilities, while Toyanath Adhikari will provide training on the legislative process.
Scholar Dobhan Rai will lead sessions on effective communication with citizens in the digital age and strengthening relations between Parliament and the public. Some lawmakers, including Sobita Gautam from Chitwan-3, will also share their experiences.
The second day will begin with yoga practice, followed by sessions on planning, budget formulation, and setting parliamentary priorities.
The program will conclude with directives from Party Chair Lamichhane.
However, senior party leader and Jhapa-5 elected representative Balen Shah is not attending the orientation. The RSP has proposed him as its candidate for Prime Minister.
In the election held on Falgun 21, the RSP secured nearly a two-thirds majority, winning 125 seats under the first-past-the-post system and 57 seats under proportional representation.
