In the past 24 hours, various disaster incidents across Nepal have resulted in the deaths of four people and caused damages exceeding Rs 25 million.
According to the latest bulletin released by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority under the Ministry of Home Affairs, disaster incidents were recorded in 43 districts nationwide. Between 10:00 AM on Chaitra 2 and 10:00 AM on Chaitra 3, a total of 73 disaster events occurred across the country.
Among these incidents, four people lost their lives, while 14 others were injured. The fatalities include two from windstorms, one from a snakebite, and one from a lightning strike.
During this period, the highest number of incidents were related to windstorms (46), followed by fire incidents (12). The authority estimates total damages at Rs 24,106,900. Additionally, 27 livestock deaths were reported.
According to the authority’s data, from Baisakh 1 to Chaitra 3 of the year 2082 (Nepali calendar), a total of 6,951 disaster incidents have been recorded nationwide. So far, 475 people have lost their lives, 38 remain missing, and 1,846 have been injured. A total of 12,650 families have been directly affected by these disasters.
