The Division Forest Office Chitwan has appointed volunteers to help control forest fires.
According to Information Officer Devi Prasad Poudel, the office recently recruited six volunteers and mobilized them for fire control efforts. The volunteers will work in coordination with armed forest guards to extinguish fires in affected areas.
They will be deployed for the next three months in locations identified as high-risk for forest fires.
Chitwan has a mix of community, leasehold, religious, and private forests. Despite limited resources and equipment, authorities are making every possible effort to control forest fires. Poudel also stated that available materials from community forests and equipment from security agencies are being used to manage the situation.
