On the occasion of Ramadan, food supplies have been distributed to single women and economically disadvantaged families in Kathmandu.
The distribution program was organized on Wednesday in Maitidevi with support from Nepal Bharat Millat Parishad Kendra and UAE Aid.
Former chairperson of the Muslim Commission, Samim Miya Ansari, stated that each family received enough food for a month. The relief package included a 25 kg sack of rice, 5 kg of flour, along with lentils, chickpeas, sugar, gram flour, tea, and salt.
According to Ansari, 200 families in Maitidevi and 150 families in Bara district had already benefited from the initiative this year. In total, more than 300 households received assistance through the joint effort.
He added that the organization has been providing similar support every year during Ramadan and has also contributed during past crises such as earthquakes and the COVID-19 pandemic.
The initiative aims to help financially कमजोर families observe Ramadan with ease, reflecting the Islamic teaching of supporting those in need during difficult times.
