The Supreme Court of Nepal is continuing the hearing today on a writ petition challenging the decision to withdraw money laundering and organized crime cases filed against Rabi Lamichhane, chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party.
The hearing has been ongoing since Sunday before a joint bench of Justices Saranga Subedi and Sunil Kumar Pokharel. On Tuesday, the proceedings were kept under “hearing in progress” status.
Due to a public holiday in the Kathmandu Valley on Wednesday for the Ghode Jatra, the hearing could not take place yesterday.
If arguments conclude today, a verdict may be delivered the same day.
Attorney General Sabita Bhandari Baral had earlier decided to withdraw the cases filed against Lamichhane during the previous government’s tenure.
Challenging that decision, advocates Yubaraj Paudel, senior advocate Dinesh Tripathi, and advocate Abhas Regmi filed separate writ petitions at the Supreme Court.
