The Council of Ministers is scheduled to meet today, Friday, to call the first session of the Federal Parliament formed after the elections held on Falgun 21.
Although the newly elected government is responsible for convening the parliamentary session, the election government led by Prime Minister Sushila Karki will call the session due to political parties insisting that the session must begin on Chaitra 16.
Earlier, there was uncertainty over whether the interim government or the new government should convene the session.
The oath-taking of newly elected MPs has been scheduled for Chaitra 12. Since there must be a seven-day notice to convene the session, the current government will call it.
A minister from the Karki government confirmed that the parliamentary session will be convened on Chaitra 16, and the Federal Parliament Secretariat has been informed to make preparations accordingly.
