CPN-UML Secretary Yogesh Bhattarai has said that Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane should step down as party chief. Speaking during the special session of the House of Representatives on Thursday, Bhattarai questioned how a suspended lawmaker could continue to lead a political party.
“A suspended lawmaker cannot attend Parliament. How can such a person be the head of a party?” Bhattarai asked. He further noted that Lamichhane is still under judicial investigation and stands accused in court. “If an accused individual remains at the top of a party, that itself raises serious questions about morality. Instead of questioning others’ integrity, the RSP should first look inward,” Bhattarai added, stressing that Lamichhane should be dismissed as party leader.
Bhattarai also accused Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ of showing “double standards” in the case of Lamichhane.
