A separate desk will be set up at the arrival and departure halls of Tribhuvan International Airport for Non-Resident Nepalis (NRNs) and people of Nepali origin living abroad.
According to the Department of Immigration Nepal, the decision aims to strengthen the emotional connection of NRNs and foreign citizens of Nepali origin with Nepal’s language, culture, and homeland, while also promoting tourism and investment in the country.
The department has already instructed the airport office to arrange separate desks in both arrival and departure sections.
The move comes after long-standing advocacy by the Association of Nepali Origin, which had been urging the government to implement such a facility. Following the decision by the Home Administration, the organization has welcomed the move.
In a statement issued by ANO अध्यक्ष Dilli Adhikari, gratitude was expressed to Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal and the Home Ministry. The statement noted that the decision has made Nepali-origin individuals around the world feel respected and is expected to significantly strengthen their connection with Nepal.
