Police in Saptari have arrested two absconding convicts, including one sentenced in a corruption case.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Dambar Bahadur Puri, spokesperson and information officer of the District Police Office Saptari, Yugeshwar Yadav, a resident of Rajbiraj Municipality-5, was arrested in connection with a corruption and bribery case. Yadav had been on the run after being sentenced to five months and 15 days in prison.
Similarly, Niraj Kumar Thakur, a resident of Shambhunath Municipality-4 in the same district, was also arrested. He had been absconding in a theft case and was sentenced to one month in prison along with a fine of Rs. 75,000.
The arrests were made by a police team deployed from the District Police Office Saptari as part of enforcing court verdicts. Both individuals were presented before the Saptari District Court on Sunday for further legal action, DSP Puri said.
