The 20th edition of the Sauraha Food Festival is set to take place from Chaitra 12 to 14 in Sauraha, a popular tourist destination.
Organized by the Restaurant and Bar Association Nepal, preparations for the festival have reached the final stage. The event will be held at Chhatri Street in Gaida Chowk, according to REBAN Sauraha General Secretary Nabin Nepal.
With the theme “Natural Beauty, the Identity of Chitwan Sauraha,” the festival aims to promote both domestic and international tourism. The event was initially scheduled around Valentine’s Day but was postponed due to election-related activities to ensure better security, participation, and management, informed festival coordinator Krishna Prasad Khatiwada.
Now in its 20th year, the Sauraha Food Festival has played a significant role in promoting tourism in the Chitwan region. Organizers believe this year’s edition will help revive the tourism sector and bring renewed energy to local businesses and communities.
Major attractions of the festival include cultural processions representing different ethnic groups, musical performances by national and local artists, exhibitions and competitions of local and indigenous cuisines, and a waiter–waitress competition.
The festival is expected to cost around NPR 6 million to organize, with projected कारोबार (transactions) of approximately NPR 10 million during the event. Organizers estimate that about 5,000 visitors will attend the festival each day.
