Nepal Communist Party (Maoist Center) Vice-Chair Agni Sapkota has accused the government of leaning toward authoritarianism.
He alleged that the two major ruling parties are attempting to establish control over all state mechanisms. In particular, Sapkota claimed that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who is also the chair of CPN-UML, has been moving toward keeping every national institution under his influence.
Sapkota further said that the move to remove Deputy Speaker Indira Rana was one clear example of this trend. He described the removal attempt as an act of “revenge and ill intent.”
