Nepal is set to host a global-standard dance platform for the first time with the announcement of World of Dance Nepal 2026. The program was formally unveiled on Sunday during a special ceremony.
The judging panel will feature Kiran Thapa, Jerry Tawal, and Terence Lewins. Speaking at the event, Thapa said the platform will differ from typical television dance reality shows by focusing purely on performance-based presentation. He emphasized that Nepal has no shortage of talent and expressed confidence that many outstanding dancers would be discovered through this platform.
Actress Pariksha Limbu highlighted the strong connection between dance and acting, noting that both art forms rely on storytelling, expression, emotion, timing, and choreography.
Similarly, Kabita Nepali, the face of the event, said that at a time when the dance sector in Nepal appears to be weakening, such platforms bring new hope. She thanked the organizers and encouraged dancers to continue moving forward with dedication.
The event also featured remarks from Mike Harker, Public Affairs Chief at the U.S. Embassy Kathmandu.
According to the organizers, the competition will offer various awards, including a gold-plated trophy. Participants will be able to register through an app and take part in auditions. Winners will receive cash prizes, gift hampers, and multiple awards.
