
Birgunj recorded 106 new cholera cases in a single day on Wednesday, raising the total number of registered infections in the district to 528.
According to Suman Chandra Thakur, spokesperson for the District Health Crisis Management Committee, 257 patients have been discharged after treatment, while 271 remain hospitalized. Among those under treatment, 35 are in the ICU, 4 in the HDU, and 232 in general wards.
Currently, treatment is ongoing at multiple health facilities: 158 at Narayani Hospital, 42 at Tarai Hospital, 24 at Birgunj Health Care Hospital, 19 at National Medical College, 7 at Prabhu Hospital, 6 at Sarvottam Hospital, 4 each at Advance Hospital, Narayani Central, and Neelkantha Hospital, 2 at Bhawani Hospital, and 1 at Nepal Medicity Bayodha.
The Birgunj Metropolitan City has also launched a door-to-door public awareness campaign to combat the outbreak.
