Prof. Dr. Govinda KC has announced that he will resume his Satyagraha on 15 Bhadra 2082 BS (September 30, 2025) to protest the government’s recent decision to increase seats in private medical colleges.
In a statement issued Thursday morning, Dr. KC said the increase of 1,359 medical education seats, approved by the Medical Education Commission on 30 Shrawan, would negatively affect the quality of medical education and healthcare services.
“The self-serving decisions recently made by the Prime Minister and officials of the Commission will impact not only the poor but also intellectuals, journalists, and all Nepalis. Health is the most vital aspect of humanity. We have fought and will continue to fight for equitable access to quality, free, and affordable education and healthcare,” Dr. KC said.
He added that repeated requests to the government to reverse the decision were ignored, leaving him with no choice but to resume the Satyagraha despite his physical weakness.
