
Motorcyclists and scooter riders in Bagmati Province will no longer be able to refuel without wearing a helmet.
During a discussion program held at the Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers on Wednesday, Chief Minister Indra Bahadur Baniya directed the concerned authorities to immediately implement the “No Helmet, No Fuel” campaign. Monitoring will be carried out through District Administration Offices and security agencies to ensure effective enforcement.
The meeting also decided that Nepal Oil Corporation and the Nepal Petroleum Dealers National Association, Bagmati Province, will circulate directives requiring petrol pumps to display boards with the message “Helmet Mandatory.”
In addition, Chief Minister Baniya instructed authorities to strengthen and regularize alcohol and drug testing for drivers as part of efforts to reduce rising road accidents.
During the meeting, representatives from Nepal Police and the Highway Safety and Traffic Management Office, Chitwan, presented data on the growing number of accidents in the province and their causes.
The program was attended by Internal Affairs and Law Minister Shivaraj Adhikari, Chief Secretary Bhupal Baral, Secretary of the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Transport Birendra Kumar Bharti, Chief District Officer Skim Shrestha, Bagmati Province Police Chief Arun Poudel, Armed Police Deputy Inspector General Anjani Kumar Pokharel, President of Petroleum Dealers Association Bagmati Province Sudarshan Karki, among others.
