A landslide has obstructed the Saljhandi–Dhorpatan road, a national priority project. Heavy rainfall caused a landslide in Dharabot, Ward No. 7 of Dhorpatan Municipality, blocking the road.
As a result, tourists visiting the Dhorpatan Wildlife Reserve are stranded, unable to continue their journey. Anand Basnet, Chief of the local police office, reported that the landslide occurred on Monday evening and the road has not yet been cleared. He added that due to the large size of the landslide, it will take time to reopen the road.
With no alternative routes available, locals are also facing difficulties commuting. Although efforts were made to clear the road on Monday evening, rainfall hampered the process. Basnet said that machinery has been in use since early morning to clear the road, but it will still take some time.
“The landslide is very large, so clearing the road is challenging. Efforts have been ongoing since early morning using machines, but it will take time. Tourists are most affected, and locals have also faced difficulties due to the lack of alternate routes,” he said. Authorities have urged tourists to visit Dhorpatan only after checking weather and road conditions.
